The Associate Mechanical Engineer develops new designs as a part of a group of designers and engineers in support of rotorcraft modifications and alteration activities. Performs analysis of metallic and composite components and assemblies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform and validate structural analysis using hand calculations and FEA (NASTRAN)
- Develop new designs in support of aircraft modifications and alteration activities
- Develop release and maintain engineering models and drawings using SolidWorks
- Support Maintenance activities by amending data to address changes created by improved maintenance practices, part numbers changes, or service experience
- Coordinate design issues with internal and external customers and suppliers
- Research material and part specifications, regulatory documentation and documentations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Structural or Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of Mechanical Systems, Propulsion Systems, and/or Rotorcraft Flying Qualities is desired
- Basic understanding of FAA Certification process is desired, specifically 14 CFR Part 21, 29, and 43
- Experience using SolidWorks design software is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to be able to present ideas, concepts and proposals with a wide range of audiences at all levels, technical and non-technical, internal and external
- Proficient with Microsoft applications
- Excellent technical and analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
