The Associate Project Engineer is responsible for the execution of the project after the receipt of an order from a customer. Control and monitor project design and engineering activities to ensure projects are delivered on time, under budget, and comply with the technical requirements of the customer purchase order and specifications. Serves as the technical lead for the execution and coordination of the project from conception through design development, procurement, manufacturing, and testing with guidance and assistance from project engineers and engineering managers.
- Responsible for all aspects of the project scope to ensure technical requirements, schedule, and budget obligations are met.
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of the project stages with various departments, including design, purchasing, manufacturing, testing, and shipping.
- Review technical specifications and research industry standards for custom design compliance.
- Develop equipment designs that are safe, functional, reliable, economical, serviceable, and marketable.
- Perform essential technical analysis and design calculations.
- Evaluate and critique manufacturing drawings for completeness and to simplify labor costs.
- Create technical documents and procedures to satisfy customer submittal needs.
- Select and specify components, materials, and purchased parts, including writing procurement specifications for custom components.
- Assess vendor proposal quotes for technical compliance and cost-effectiveness.
- Generate test procedures and acceptance criteria to prove equipment performance, reliability, and functionality.
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing, test, and field problems as they arise.
- Maintain a schedule to identify pitfalls and prioritize tasks.
- Track and control material and labor spending against financial budgets.
- Provide support for estimating equipment and technical development for bid proposals.
- Interfaces effectively with people at all levels and from diverse technical backgrounds.
- Performs other duties or projects as assigned
