Electrical Engineer - Substation

Connexus Energy is seeking an Electrical Engineer. This role will work collaboratively to help maintain the Connexus Energy substations and distribution system by coordinating construction schedule, review maintenance logs, and help manage the records for new and existing Connexus Energy substations. Also, by programing, troubleshooting, and interpreting event logs of substation protective relays.

Location:

Work for this position can be performed both on-site at our campus located at 14601 Ramsey Blvd, Ramsey, MN 55303, and from your local home office as duties require. While this position is designated as a hybrid role, based on current policy, hires must reside in or relocate within commuting distance to our office in Ramsey, MN.

Compensation:

The anticipated hiring range for this role is between $36.54 and $47.95 hourly. The final compensation offered is based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience and skill level. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual bonus with a target payout of 5% of annual earnings based on company performance.

In this position you will:

• Maintain protective relay devices to protect substation equipment. Help assist in retrieving and interpreting historical events for diagnostics.
• Work with consultants on the design and construction schedules of electrical substation projects. Prepare and track substation project schedules.
• Perform on-site inspections to ensure specifications are met.
• Help coordinate substation maintenance to ensure reliability and extend substation equipment life.
• Review the results of substation maintenance records and assist in plans for any required corrective actions.
• Maintain the substation file management system to ensure substation records are up to date and easily accessible.
• Make minor changes to substation drawings, as updates require.
• Maintain Line Regulators, and line device programming. Help with integration of new Automation equipment on both distribution lines as well as inside the substations.

Need to have:

• Bachelor’s in electrical engineering with power systems emphasis

• Current and valid driver’s license

Nice to have:

• Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) Certificate
• P.E. Certificate
• Ability to understand, interpret, and apply codes and standards to applicable situations
• Ability to learn specific application software such as metering information, power flow, work order and mapping systems
• Understand the operation of electrical distribution system and associated equipment
• Microsoft Office software skills including Word, Excel, Outlook
• Experience with electric system modeling software
• Drafting experience such as with CAD software
