Job description
Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 1 to be located in our Aiken, SC office. This position will perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operations, and maintenance of electronic equipment and systems and generally as a member of a design, analysis, or review team.
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform design, development or review tasks in specific areas under close supervision.
~Designs, fabricates, modifies and evaluates complicated and difficult mechanical and electro-mechanical components, sub-systems and systems.
~Assist in generation of specifications and engineering data.
~Assist in the preparation of reports and correspondence.
~Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.
~Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
~Interface with customers in design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
~Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
~Prepares design specifications, analyses and recommendations for presentation and approval. Has technical responsibility for planning, organizing and conducting technical projects or phases of projects involving design and development of new or improved product and/or processes. ~Investigates solutions to product and/or process problems.
~Consolidates results of mechanical design elements for assigned projects.
~Coordinates the efforts of drafters/designers, engineering technicians, and machine shop personnel as required by assigned projects.
~Conducts independent technical investigations involving the origination or modification of material, component or process specifications and requirements.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related scientific field and 0-1 year of job-related experience or equivalent.
Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
Position may require travel.
Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
