Job description
Collins has an opening for an Entry-Level Engineer in our Chicago, IL, office. In this role, you will have the opportunity to perform a combination of structural inspections and design work and will be mentored by experienced engineers in the office and field. This is a unique chance to be exposed to multiple disciplines within the transportation industry and offers the opportunity to diversify your skill set.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform design and inspection/field work that does not require previous experience.
- Assist in the completion of inspection and assessment reports. 
- Prepare design computations and quantity estimates.
- Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare calculation packages and design drawings.
- Can include limited communication with clients.
- Instructs draftspersons/technicians on design drawings, data entry, and report preparation.
- Field work is required, which could include nights and weekends.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
- Senior or a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
- Previous software experience in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Blue Beam, or Civil 3D is a plus.
- Previous software experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe PDF or other PDF editing software is a plus.
- Must have an Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) or ability to obtain with one year.
- A valid driver’s license.
