Job description

Freese and Nichols has a great entry-level Electrical Engineer I opportunity for a recent grad or an upcoming grad in August or December 2025 to launch their professional careers! These roles are available in Fort Worth, TX, San Antonio, TX, and Raleigh, NC.

We plan, design, and manage infrastructure projects with client service and continuous improvement in mind. An electrical engineer is absolutely critical to the successful operation and long-term use of water infrastructure.  

Freese and Nichols offers a flexible work environment that includes options such as a hybrid work schedule with remote work up to 2 days per week and an alternative work schedule with every other Friday off.

In this role, you will work on great projects such as Water/Wastewater Treatment Facilities, Pump and Lift Stations, and other water related projects. You will be a member of a team of engineers and other professionals working on multiple projects. Collaboration is key so good verbal and written communication skills are a must.

This role encompasses these work areas:

  • Primary electrical distribution
  • Medium voltage distribution
  • Emergency and backup power generation
  • Instrumentation & Process Controls (I&C)
  • Motor Starting analysis, short circuit studies, and arc flash analysis
  • Lighting

Responsibilities:

  • Develop design drawings and technical specs
  • Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations
  • Collect, adjust, and correlate data and recognize discrepancies in results
  • Perform project assignments within the scope of work and guidelines
  • Create reports for various tasks and assignments
  • Responsible for the coordination of project efforts contributed by technicians and/or drafting personnel working on the same project
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering (August 2025, December 2025, or a current grad)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship
  • Participation in a student organization, such as a professional or technical society
