
Entry Level Electrical Engineering Consultant
Job description
Sargent & Lundy is one of the largest and most experienced power industry engineering and consulting firms. This entry-level position is to support the continued growth of the Sargent & Lundy Consulting group, particularly in the renewable energy, battery energy storage, and utility planning / advisory practice areas. Our Consulting group works with clients across the United States and in numerous other countries.
This position will require a great deal of face-to-face interaction with power plant developers and owners, as well as lenders and investors, during the execution of consulting services work for the firm. The work environment in our Consulting group is fast-paced, dynamic, and interesting.
Under guidance from senior consultants, support the following consulting engagements:
- Owner’s engineering to support development and execution of utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal, and other projects
- Technical due diligence to evaluate new power and infrastructure projects independently to support financing
- Planning studies and business cases for utilities, power producers, and government agencies
Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:
- This position requires a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- A strong academic background and coursework in electrical power concepts and AC power systems analysis is required. Minimum GPA of 3.2 in engineering course works.
- A basic understanding of power generation, substation, and transmission in the U.S. Bulk Electric System.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Self-starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.
- Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, execute solutions, and meet deadlines.
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- Engineering/consulting internship or co-op work experience in energy industry.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer in Training.
