
Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer
Job description
Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has a position available for an entry-level mechanical engineer with our Food & Beverage group in our Fenton, MO office location.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing job site surveys of food and beverage manufacturing facilities to analyze ammonia refrigeration
 - Process glycol and HVAC systems
 - Calculating refrigeration requirements for process cooling loads and building loads
 - Performing engineering calculations for system designs
 - Assisting in the selection of system components required for new and existing systems
 - Drafting and editing AutoCAD drawings
 - Assisting in the development of project documentations
 - Assisting in creating written specifications for equipment
 - Coordinating technical specifications, delivery requirements, and quotation parameters with outside equipment suppliers, subcontractors and customers
 
Occasional travel (up to 25%) will be required.
The successful candidate will have the following:
- A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university
 
The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:
- A mechanical internship working in an engineering, architecture, or construction firm
 - Coursework in heat transfer and thermodynamics
 - Coursework or experience in AutoCAD
 - Capability of obtaining an EIT within nine months of hire
 - Familiarity with International Mechanical Code requirements, ASHRAE standards, and building construction materials
 
Physical Abilities:
- Capacity to work long hours on foot, often in outdoor environments with varying weather conditions
 - Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. Must be able to ascend & descend a 30’ OSHA fixed ladder
 - Good eyesight for inspecting equipment and ensuring safety compliance
 - Ability to discern and react to auditory cues in a noisy construction environment
 - Must be able to speak & write fluent English
 - Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to multiple food ingredients
