STR’s Systems Development Division (SDD) is dedicated to developing advanced technology solutions that provide asymmetric advantages within the information domain. We handle the entire lifecycle of solutions, from conceptualization and architecture refinement to implementation and deployment, leveraging novel technologies to deliver first-of-a-kind systems. Our current projects include programs for airborne and space sensors and advanced operations enabled by multi-function, multi-modal capabilities.

As a Software Engineer in SDD, you will design, develop, integrate, and test software for complex systems, primarily focusing on air and space applications. You will work in a high-profile, fast-paced, yet structured development environment alongside a diverse and talented team. You will utilize your software engineering skills to implement solutions for DoD programs, aiming for the highest standards of quality, maintainability, and reuse.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate closely with a small, dedicated team to develop innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Execute assigned tasks and report overall status to project leadership
  • Develop and test novel software solutions spanning research, development, and deployed production systems
  • Identify creative and innovative approaches to open-ended problems
  • Deliver high-quality software in a rapid-paced team environment
  • Develop operational prototypes for experimentation and performance analysis
  • Create customer-facing operational systems

Who you are:

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is required by the U.S. Government.
  • Proficient in Python, C, C++, or similar high-level programming languages
  • Possess a working knowledge of software testing and evaluation best practices
  • Experience developing software with GNU/Linux toolchains using open-source software
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Have a Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, with at least 2 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have:

  • Active Security Clearance
  • Experience in building, deploying, and maintaining robust and stable software
  • Experience writing software within a large multi-party codebase
  • Familiarity with multi-threaded or multi-core real-time operating concepts
  • Knowledge of high-level software architecture design

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $112,000 - $154,000

The salary range listed is based on external market data. Offers are based on factors, such as but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, key skills/critical skills, security clearances, and prevailing market and business conditions.
