Software Engineer I Applications and Development

The State of Idaho Controller's Office (SCO) is an equal opportunity employer. This position is exempt from state classified service, and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission. This is an at-will position.

GENERAL INFORMATION

This is a software engineer position providing the development and maintenance of the critical Infor Enterprise Resource Platform, as well as the various web applications that support the organization. A successful candidate in this role will be experienced in modern software development programming languages, cloud technologies, database concepts and SQL, and has strong troubleshooting & problem-solving skills. Key technology in the tech stack includes C#, .NET WebForms, Python, Javascript, SQL, and particularly the Infor Landmark programming language. This role will provide new and enhancement development of Infor Process Automation to include, interfaces, workflows, and API’s. This position will also assist in Infor configuration requests and landmark programming as needed. This engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to create innovative solutions that drive the success of the company's products and services.

Position will require participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Enhancing and maintaining current production Infor ERP system as well as developing new applications to support the efforts of the State Controller’s Office.

Example of Duties:

• Provide development and maintenance of the SCO Infor Enterprise Resource Platform to include, interfaces, workflows, API’s, configuration changes and landmark programming.

• Participate in Application Development, team meetings, stand-ups, and cross-trainings.

• Contribute to the delivery of time sensitive development, scheduled releases, and technology strategy milestones.

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, gather user feedback, and translate them into technical solutions.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to ensure alignment and successful project delivery.

• Analyze project requests to determine feasibility, estimated time completion, and scope of work.

• Apply problem solving, analyze complex technical problems and propose innovative solutions.

• Debug and resolve software defects and issues, employing a systematic approach to troubleshoot and diagnose problems.

• Monitor, troubleshoot & close production tickets for current production systems.

• Communicate with users in a timely and effective manner.

• Handle on-call events on a rotating basis.

Additional Functions:

• Contributes to the positive performance of the computer services division and the office.

• Demonstrates timely and consistent attendance (critical to this position).

• This is an in-office position.

• Any additional duties as assigned by State Controller or his/her designee.

Minimum Qualifications:

Note: college coursework in the areas mentioned will count as experience

• Experience developing in C#, .NET WebForms, Javascript, HTML/CSS with Bootstrap, React, SQL, Git/Azure DevOps Version Control.

• Experience in SQL Server including table management, queries, stored procedures, functions. • Good knowledge of current trends in Information Technology and SDLC practices.

• Experience identifying and resolving complex system-related problems dealing with end users and vendors and translating them into workable solutions.

• Experience designing programs and performing analysis.

• Ability to communicate effectively with management and other departments.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to effectively organize and manage multiple company initiatives and encourage coworkers to do the same.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Proficiency in the Infor Landmark Programming Language.

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, JavaScript).

• Strong understanding of software development principles, algorithms, and data structures.

• Experience with software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.).

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.

• Knowledge of software testing techniques and frameworks.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

• Previous experience with relevant tools and technologies (e.g., databases, frameworks, APIs) is a plus.

• Experience with .NET WebForms, HTML and console applications.

• Experience with VB.NET.

• Experience with web development including HTML, JavaScript, and jQuery.

• Familiarity with business process automation tools.
