In the role of a Manufacturing Engineer you will be a specialist in production manufacturing process development and improvement. You will work with New Product Development and Production to ensure efficient and error free production of medical devices is delivered to the customer. The Manufacturing Engineer needs to react quickly and accurately to customer and production requests, understand all aspects of the associated process, implement changes and ensure no adverse impact to manufacturability.  

This position is expected to perform other related duties in conjunction with other employees and departments contributing to the overall team effort, efficient process, and safe working environment. This position includes many essential components necessary for successful and efficient manufacturing, and as such, shares full responsibility for the final product delivered to the customer.

Performance will be based on execution of work, ability to meet projected timeline and budgetary commitments, ability to maintain expected levels of quality and control, communication, continual improvement, the ability to work in a team environment, and successfully coordinate the operations of multiple departments to achieve success.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Production Support:
    1. Setup and troubleshoot existing products
    2. Identify and implement improvements to processes
  • Project Support
    1. Contribute to project timeline
    2. Work cell, process flow, layout design, and line balancing
  • Validation
    1. Develop and execute validation plans
  • Automation
    1. Interface with and troubleshoot industrial automation
    2. Design and build automated solutions
  • Lean/Continuous Improvement
    1. Identify and implement improvements
  • Documentation
    1. Creation of process steps / work instructions
    2. Create / improve production and regulatory procedures
  • Customer Interface
    1. Project support
    2. Customer / account development and support

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills, including written communication.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks CAD platform preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous high volume manufacturing experience.
  • Experience within the medical device industry.
  • Previous experience with lean manufacturing concepts.

ADA Requirements:

  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  
  • Ability to work for extended periods sitting and looking at computer while completing repetitive motions to include substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; reviewing detailed information; viewing a computer terminal; and expansive reading.
  • The ability to manage a number of projects at one time with frequent interruptions and tight deadlines.
  • Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Fingering, Grasping, Feeling, Talking, and Hearing.
