Job description

Lead and take ownership of complex manufacturing‑engineering challenges. Use technical expertise and business understanding to set direction, identify and solve problems proactively, often in areas without precedent. Drive improvements that span multiple systems and teams. Interact with peers and mentors to ensure sound decision‑making and validation of solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support automated 24Ă—7 production: control systems, vision inspections (cameras, lighting, Cognex), UI modifications.
  • Write work instructions, validation protocols, and equipment specs.
  • Use Lean/Six Sigma tools, process mapping, experiments to improve efficiency, lower costs.
  • Manage projects, coordinate with vendors and other departments.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO, cGMP, and Abbott Quality Management policies.
  • Maintain professional conduct, apply safe practices, including around hazardous materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • BS degree in engineering or related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in engineering role.
  • Experience with computer applications include SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MS Word, Excel and Project.
  • Verbal and written communication skills; Organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to use MS Office and other manufacturing systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic knowledge of federal and other regulations governing medical device assembly and design, e.g. GMP, QSR, ISO and CMDR.
  • Understanding of machine function, mechanical/electrical or software engineering.
  • Knowledge of Lab View, PLC and other specialty machine and vision software.
  • Knowledge of structured problem-solving/lean tools.
