At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer I (Hybrid) to join the Kenall Manufacturing Co - Lighting Sector (LGT) Team in Kenosha, WI. Responsible for sustaining engineering support of products in series production to meet company and customer needs.  Perform assigned duties and provide fundamental support of ongoing departmental activities in a fast-paced environment.

What Will You Do?

  • Perform ECNs, drafting, documentation, and prototype construction.
  • Develop layouts and detailed drawings (flat, form, weld assemblies, etc.) using 3-D solid modeling software.
  • Preparation of required documentation, such as bills of material, component specifications, packaging, factory wiring and assembly instructions, product instruction sheets and engineering change notices.
  • Assist Sales/Customer Service by preparing customer drawings, BOMs and samples.
  • Demonstrate agility by completing standard product modifications and specials with a quick turnaround to help win customer orders over the competition.
  • Interface with vendors and buyers to assure best design utilizing purchased components.
  • Develop product line extensions, enhancements, options and accessories.
  • Contribute to departmental VA/VE initiatives to improve company profitability.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications

Critical Skills/Expertise:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a 0-3 years experience, or minimum 6 years practical experience and demonstrated expertise.
  • Proficient in the use of 3D CAD/CAM system, and other related experience acquired from lower grade positions.  AutoCAD Inventor modeling and Vault PDM experience highly preferable.
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to determine the origin of problems and initiate corrective action.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills as required to discuss training, general direction and other position-related tasks.
  • Must be professional in appearance and attitude and possess the ability to work in a professional manner with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels.
  • High level of self-initiative and dependability.
  • Must be flexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when required.
  • Must be flexible and willing to pitch in as needed.
  • Resourceful and highly organized with an attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize and balance multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Must possess positive, "can do" attitude.
