Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer I is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, & reporting of lab tests for the Adhesives Engineering and Marketing business groups in support of product development activities.  This entry-level position is intended to acquire product & application knowledge in preparation for future roles in areas such as design, manufacturing, and/or field support.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts tests that allow the engineering team to make a decision as to which designs best meet customer’s needs.
    • Test Planning: Proposes test plans, including but not limited to the identification of: components, layouts, procedures, and instrumentation.
    • Test Execution: Assembles the test setup and conducts the test.  Records and compiles all test data.  Able to efficiently identify and organize pertinent data to draw conclusions against the test objective.  Critically evaluates product performance, including results that may not been anticipated.
    • Test Reporting:  Demonstrates excellent communication skills; succinctly explains results such that the design team can quickly understand and act on the findings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of product development activities.
  • Ability to work in a lab environment.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.

Skills and Abilities

  • Skilled in test set-up, testing, instrumentation and data acquisition.
  • Self starter

  • Mechanically inclined
