Programmer Trainee

This role is designed for individuals who are eager to start a career in programming and software development. As a trainee, you will be exposed to a wide range of technologies and will get hands-on experience in coding, testing, debugging, and developing software solutions primarily for the host mainframe system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist senior programmers in writing and maintaining code for software projects.
2. Debug and troubleshoot issues within applications.
3. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code under the guidance of mentors.
4. Participate in code reviews and learn best practices in coding.
5. Learn and work with various programming languages such as Free Format RPG, RPG/LE, CLLE or C#.
6. Collaborate with the development team to design, test, and improve software applications.
7. Stay updated with emerging programming technologies and trends.
8. Complete training, as assigned, within the expected timeframes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or currently pursuing).
• Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C++.
• Familiarity with databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Strong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel, occasionally overnight
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components
• Ability to lift or move up to 30 pounds
• Ability to sit in front of a computer for extended periods of time

Preferred Skills (Optional):

• Understanding of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum).
• Previous internship or project experience is a plus.

Salary Description

$19.81-$29.72/hour - Salary Grade 6*
