Job Description
Space is a critical domain, connecting our technologies, our security and our humanity. While others view space as a destination, we see it as a realm of possibilities, where we can do more— we can innovate, invest, inspire and integrate our capabilities to transform the future.
At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve. We’re creating future-ready solutions, focusing on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security® vision. We’re erasing boundaries and forming partnerships across industries and around the world. We’re advancing spacecraft and the workforce to fuel the next generation. And we’re reimagining how space can connect us, ensuring security and prosperity.
We are seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to join our team in Littleton, CO, supporting the testing of spacecraft components at our Deer Creek facility. As a member of the Integration, Test, and Delivery Quality team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to review test procedures, perform inspections, and execute test line operations.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all test activities are conducted in accordance with established procedures and standards. You will review and approve test procedures, evaluate anomalous conditions, and interpret technical requirements to ensure that our spacecraft components meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. You will also be responsible for driving continuous improvement projects, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our test processes.
As a Quality Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of testing activities, including vibration, stress, acoustic, functional, and thermal vacuum testing. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all test activities are properly planned, executed, and documented. Your expertise in quality engineering principles, practices, and standards will be vital in ensuring that our spacecraft components meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. You will also be responsible for interacting with the customer as needed, resolving anomalies, and becoming an expert on requirements and specifications.
This role will be primarily assigned to the Deer Creek facility but will also have some tasking at the Waterton Campus.
Typical role responsibilities include:
• Reviewing test procedures, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance and producibility.
• Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to execute test activities and determine if non-conformances exist
• Develop subject matter expertise to be a source of knowledge on processes, procedures, and “what right looks like”
• Engage with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement across the test cycle to eliminate quality control issues
• Coordinate disposition, root cause, and corrective action on nonconforming hardware using electronic documentation systems and a variety of investigative skills.
• This position occasionally requires working off shifts, non-standard work weeks and overtime as needed to complete test campaigns on schedule.
