Software Development Intern

Job details

Job description

Built on meritocracy, our unique company culture rewards self-starters and those who are committed to doing what is best for our customers.

The Winston Benefits Software Development Internship offers a dynamic and immersive experience for aspiring software developers.

The program spans 12 weeks, with the flexibility to work from home on Mondays and Fridays, while requiring in-office presence on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Interns will participate in 4 to 6 two-week rotations, each designed to provide comprehensive exposure to various aspects of software development:

Introduction to Benefits and Insurance: Interns will work closely with the Vice President to gain insights into the world of benefits and insurance. Software Testing: Interns will report to the Software Quality Assurance Tester to learn about software testing methodologies. Software Operations: Interns will engage in software operations, excluding testing and databases, under the guidance of the Manager of Client Operational Support. Software Development: Interns will focus on software development tasks, reporting to the Manager of Client Operational Support. Software UI Development: Interns will join a second team to work on software UI development, reporting to the Manager of Software Development (Portals). Database Administration: Interns will gain experience in database administration, reporting to the DBA.

This internship program is designed to provide a well-rounded experience, providing interns with an introduction to the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the software development industry.  At the end of the internship you may be required to present a half hour presentation on what you worked on and what you accomplished during your internship.

Administrative

Work begins at or before 9 am each morning.  There is an hour given for lunch.  Work ends 8 hours after it begins, but only a half hour of the one hour lunch time counts towards an 8 hour day.  For example, if you start at 9 am and take a one hour lunch at noon, then the end of the workday would be 5:30 pm.

A desk, chair, laptop, keyboard, mouse, power supply, and multi-monitors will be provided for you, as well as unfettered access to the kitchen and restrooms.

If you choose to work from home on either Monday or Friday or both, you must be able to provide a clean, quiet workspace you can work in for 8 hours without interruption and distraction.  You must provide your own internet service.  You must have a cell phone that you are willing to allow Winston to set up 2FA using Microsoft Authenticator on.
