
Software Engineer
Job description
Department 454 is looking for a Software Engineer to join a small team of developers supporting Web based GUI systems modernization for Navy platforms. Â Candidate must have working knowledge of databases and GUI development. Â The software engineer for this position will be tasked with backend and frontend server development, as well as system script development for deployed software. Full Stack opportunity for a software engineer to take on increasing roles and responsibilities over time.
This is position is located on-site in Groton, CT.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- 0-5 years postgradute engineering experience
Preferred:
- Demonstrable knowledge and one to five years of experience with the following language:
- Java  Â
- Javascript/JSP
- HTML
- JDBC/Oracle SQL
- One to five years of demonstrable experience working in:
- Linux or some flavor of Unix
- Windows
Skills
- Comfortable working both front and back end Web development.
- Work with Eclipse, STS, Intellij and Visual Studio IDE’s.
- Web  Deployments (Web Servers)
- Takes ownership and leadership of assigned tasks.
- Work in an Agile Development Environment.
- Perform Git and Gitlab checkin of development work.
- Perform software and documentation reviews.
- Obtain a US government Secret Level clearance.
- Understand basic User Interface Design.
- An attention to details and requirements.
