About Me
I'm Raven Barrett, I currently manage a mentoring app for a nonprofit called Step Up.My work focuses on ensuring a positive and engaging user experience for our young adults and mentors, overseeing everything from user engagement to quality assurance. My background is a bit of a winding road, but it's all led me here. I started my career in healthcare, earning a master's degree in Health Informatics from Morehouse School of Medicine and a bachelor's in Global Public Health & Sociology from New York University. I then worked as a Strategy Analyst at Northwell Health, where I honed my skills in data analytics and strategic planning. However, I felt a pull to a different direction. I decided to transition into user experience (UX) design, driven by a desire to promote equity-focused and inclusive design in emerging technologies. I was fortunate enough to be accepted into Google’s Tech Equity Collective as a Rising UX Innovator, an experience that deepened my understanding of designing for marginalized communities. Before coming to Step Up, I worked as a UX Designer at Sparc Career Networking, where I focused on increasing visibility and career opportunities for recent graduates. Now, I'm thrilled to be using my skills and experience to empower the next generation through mentorship.
